UPDATE: 2-Vehicle Crash Near Ritter

AccidentGeneric 2Ritter, Iowa — No serious injuries were reported in the aftermath of a 2-vehicle crash that happened Monday morning near Ritter.

The Iowa State Patrol says the accident happened at the intersection of Highway 60 and 280th Street, shortly before 8:00 am Monday, when a 2001 Buick LeSabre, driven by 86-year old Geneva Reed of Sibley attempted a left turn.  Reed told troopers that the sun in her eyes caused her to not see a 1996 Dodge Ram van, driven by 41-year old Anibal Perez of Rushmore, Minnesota, and the two vehicles collided.

Troopers say Reed complained of minor injuries after the crash, but declined to be transported to the hospital.  Perez was reportedly uninjured.

According to authorities, both vehicles sustained enough damage to be totaled in the crash.

Troopers cited Reed for Failure To Obey A Stop Sign, and Failure To Yield Right Of Way.

The Iowa State Patrol was assisted at the scene by the O’Brien County Sheriff’s Office, Sheldon Police Department, Sheldon Fire Company and Sheldon Community Ambulance Team.
