Blue Star Banner Program Being Re-Initiated

Sheldon, Iowa — A program recognizing families who have loved ones on active military duty is being revived by the Sheldon American Legion Post #145.

The Blue Star Banner program urges families with loved ones on active duty to display the Blue Star Service Banner in their home or business.  The banner displays a Blue Star Center on a white background surrounded by a red border.

Bernie Wissink of Sheldon Legion Post #145 tells KIWA that the Sheldon Legion Post had been involved in the Blue Star Banner program as recently as the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan, but decided that now would be a good time to re-initiate the program in our area.

Wissink says the Post would like to provide a Blue Star Banner to every family in the area having a member serving in the War on Terrorism, by hanging the banner in a window for those families to display their pride and patriotism.
