Boyden-Hull Poster Finds Humor In Misfortune

Hull, Iowa — A northwest Iowa high school has found a way to laugh at their misfortune of having so many of their student-athletes injured during fall sports season.

Boyden-Hull High School has released their 2017-2018 winter sports calendar of events, which features a photo of Boyden-Hull athletes with crutches, wheelchairs, and other devices, on a poster entitled Taking 1 For The Team.

Jeff Meyn is Activities Director at Boyden-Hull, and he says the idea for the humorous photo came from the school’s booster club.

Meyn talks about some of the injuries Boyden-Hull student athletes have suffered this school year.

He says many of the medical assistive devices used as props in the photo were provided by Hull’s Rescue and Ambulance services.

Meyn says the purpose of these posters is, as always, to promote the school’s athletic programs, and this year they found a tongue-in-cheek way to inject humor into the poster’s photo.

He says he can’t remember a year when more student-athletes have been injured, and he hopes he doesn’t see another for a long time to come.
