Community Thanksgiving Meals Planned

Northwest Iowa — If you would like a traditional Thanksgiving meal, but you have nowhere to go or no one to share it with, community Thanksgiving meals are being planned by churches and community organizations in northwest Iowa.

For example, the Sibley First Presbyterian Church will have a meal at 12 noon on Thanksgiving in the Sibley First Presbyterian church fellowship hall at 601 Sixth Avenue. The meal is free, and there will NOT be a freewill offering accepted. Organizers say, “Your presence is gift enough.”

Trinity Reformed and Living Waters Community churches in Orange City will prepare and serve a free Thanksgiving meal at Living Water Community Church (next to Dollar General) in Orange City on Thanksgiving day. Serving is from 11:30 a.m. until 1 p.m. Takeout, delivery, and rides to the meal are all available. They say you can call 712-707-5100 or 712-548-3755. Organizers say local businesses and individuals donate the potatoes, gravy, corn, cranberry sauce, stuffing and some of the turkeys.

Also, there will be a homemade Thanksgiving meal served at the Sheldon First Reformed Chuch Fellowship Hall.

There will also be a free community Thanksgiving meal served at the Rock Rapids First Reformed Church Fellowship Hall. Home-delivered meals and carry out are available.
