Council To Discuss Bid For New Ambulance

Sheldon, Iowa — The Sheldon City Council will hear their annual audit report, consider approval of an updated five year plan, consider a request from SCAT regarding an ambulance bid and address other business at their regular meeting this Wednesday, December 5th.

One item of business is a request from the Library Board. The current entry on the South side of the library building is often subjected to water build-up, and the Board would like to see a covered structure built on that side of the building to help solve the problem.

In other business, the Council will be asked to approve Mc Clure Engineering as the on-call” engineering firm for the Sheldon Regional Airport. Naming an engineer for this purpose is one of the requirements that needs to be met if the City continues to get federal funding for airport projects. Ninety percent of the cost of most projects at the airport is covered by federal funds.

And, the Council will be asked to approve a Procurement Policy that is required by FEMA as part of the funding request in connection with the June disaster.

Also, it should be noted that this will be the first Sheldon City Council Meeting for the new City Manager, Sam Kooiker.

Wednesday’s meeting will begin at 4:30 in the upper level of the Sheldon Community Services Center.
