Hospers Teen Injured in Sheldon Accident

accident wordSheldon, Iowa — A Hospers teen was injured when his motorcycle struck the rear of a Hawarden teen’s car Friday afternoon in Sheldon.

According to the O’Brien County Sheriff’s Office, the accident happened shortly before 2:30 pm Friday, when a 2010 Dodge Avenger, driven by 19-year old Luis Dominquez of Hawarden was westbound on Park Street (Highway 18) in Sheldon, and stopped at the Washington Avenue stop light.  Deputies say Dominquez stopped car was then rear-ended by a 2006 Harley-Davidson motorcycle, driven by 19-year old Tanner Coombs of Hospers.

Deputies say Coombs was taken by ambulance to the Sanford Sheldon Medical Center with what are described as minor injuries.

Damage to Dominquez Dodge was estimated at $500, while Coombs’ Harley sustained an estimated $6-thousand in damage.

According to authorities, Coombs was cited for Failure To Maintain Control, and No Valid Driver’s License.
