It’s Going To Look A Lot More Like Christmas This Weekend

Sheldon, Iowa — It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas. That’s what many of us will be thinking, or maybe even singing after this weekend.

The Sheldon area is supposed to get at least four inches of snow over the weekend. That’s according to meteorologist Alex Ferguson at the Sioux Falls office of the National Weather Service.

He says they’re issuing a winter weather advisory.

He says people should prepare for the impacts of slower travel and take precautions.

He says the wind will be 10-15 miles per hour with gusts up to 25 miles per hour on Saturday and should subside on Sunday. He says overall, the wind should not have a great impact with this storm.

Ferguson says the good news is the probability for a white Christmas is high.

In summary, Light to moderate snow is supposed to start Saturday morning, with 2 to 5″ of snow likely. There could be a break Saturday night. But a second wave of light snow may begin by daybreak Sunday, bringing an additional 1-2″ of snow. Snow will end by Sunday afternoon or evening. After the snow, we’ll deal with a strong arctic blast of cold air by Monday night. Ferguson advises to be ready, because this cold blast will be stronger than the one we’ve experienced over the last week.
