An Early Taste Of Winter

Blustery and cold conditions will be accompanied by additional light snowfall at times through Saturday for many locations. Some drizzle will mix in at times, especially heading toward parts of northwest Iowa and southwest Minnesota. In terms of accumulating snowfall, one period of snowfall is expected today from south central to east central South Dakota, with a renewed chance for light snowfall late tonight through at least midday Saturday mainly north of Interstate 90. Additional snowfall amounts are expected to be greatest in parts of east central South Dakota. Most areas will feel like the teens to lower 20s through early Saturday.

Periods of mainly light snowfall will persist into Saturday. While most areas will find additional snowfall of an inch or less, snowfall of 2 to 4 inches is expected in portions of east central South Dakota – north of Madison and Howard toward De Smet. Even higher amounts will occur toward northeast South Dakota. Blustery west to northwest winds will continue into Saturday as well.
