Le Mars Man Taken To Sioux City Hospital After Accident

Ireton, Iowa — A Le Mars man was taken to a hospital after an accident on Sunday near Ireton.

The Sioux County Sheriff’s Office reports that about 1:35 p.m., 46-year-old Penny Lehman of Le Mars was driving a 1999 Chevrolet 3500 pickup pulling a flatbed trailer southbound on Fir Avenue, seven miles southeast of Ireton. They say 67-year-old Duane Riepma of Le Mars was driving a 1992 Chevrolet S‐10 Blazer eastbound on 510th Street. The report says the two vehicles met in the intersection where the Lehman vehicle struck the Riepma vehicle.

The Ireton Ambulance took Riepma to Floyd Valley Hospital in Le Mars. He was later transported to Mercy Hospital in Sioux City for further treatment of his injuries. A passenger in Lehman’s vehicle, 22-year-old Cerra Lehman of Le Mars reported minor injuries and sought medical attention on her own.

The Lehman pickup sustained about $10,000 in damage. The Riepma Blazer sustained about $5,000 in damage.

The Sioux County Sheriff’s Office reports the Ireton Ambulance crew, Ireton Fire Department, Ireton Rescue Squad, the Iowa State Patrol and the Plymouth County Sheriff’s Office assisted them with the accident.

They report that the accident remains under investigation.
