Major Weather System Expected Wednesday Into Thursday

Northwest Iowa — A major Midwest weather system is expected Wednesday into Thursday for our area.

The National Weather Service says that deepening low pressure will bring rain and thunderstorms to the area, with the potential for a quick turnover to snow late Wednesday afternoon into Wednesday evening. While snowfall is expected to be short lived, snowfall rates around an inch an hour will be possible. The NWS advises you to keep an eye on updated forecasts as the system draws closer.  And, they say, Wednesday night into Thursday winds could gust to 50 mph.

The maps below illustrate what is currently expected from this system.
