Meteorologist Says Blizzard Will Give Way To Decent Weather

National Weather Service NWS logoNorthwest Iowa — Tuesday’s blizzard dumped 13.5 inches of snow on the Sheldon area, which was a little bit more than had been originally predicted.

National Weather Service Meteorologist Todd Heitkamp says that is due, in part, to a slight shift in direction as the storm moved out of the Rockies.

He says another reason for the higher than forecast snowfall was that the snow bands just sort of “set up shop” over our area.

Heitkamp says that, despite the weather of the past couple of days, the weekend forecast looks pretty good for our area.

Heitkamp is a meteorologist stationed at the National Weather Service Forecast Center in Sioux Falls.
