Mother Charged With Kidnapping Daughters Scheduled In Court Tuesday

Clay County, Iowa — A mother who allegedly kidnapped her three daughters in Royal in September — prompting the issuance of an AMBER Alert — faces a pretrial conference this Tuesday (November 14th) in Clay County District Court in Spencer.

Clay County Chief Deputy Zach Larsen reported that the three girls were located in good condition in Sanborn the same night they were allegedly taken.

Deputy Larsen says the girls’ mother, 25-year old Danica Arzaga, was the subject of a search that ended when she was taken into custody in Woodbury County the next afternoon. Arzaga faces three counts of Kidnapping in the Third Degree, all Class “C” Felonies.

According to court records, Arzaga has pled not guilty and has waived her right to a jury trial. Her trial is scheduled at this point for December 12th.
