New Sheldon Superintendent’s First Board Meeting

Sheldon, Iowa — The Board of Education of the Sheldon Community School District will hold their regular July meeting Wednesday (July 11th) at 5:00 pm in the high school library.

This meeting will mark the first Sheldon School Board meeting for new District Superintendent Cory Myer, who took over the District’s reigns on July 1st of this year, replacing former Superintendent Robin Spears, who retired effective June 30th.

During his first meeting, Myer will report to the Board on the Middle School Roofing Project, as well as some water damage in the basement at East Elementary. Myer will also talk about the Iowa High School 4-year graduation rates, along with a report on Dropout Program funding rules.

In other action, the Board will appoint their Secretary-Treasurer for the 2018-19 school year, presumably re-appointing current Secretary-Treasurer LaDonn Hartzel to that position. 

In addition, the Board is expected to set the schedule for School Board meetings for the 2018-19 year, and take up a Transportation Agreement with Head Start.

During Wednesday’s meeting, the Board is expected to deal with a trio of Open Enrollment Applications, along with one teacher resignation, and three employment contracts, as well as several other items of business.

Wednesday’s regular meeting of the Sheldon Community Schools Board will begin at 5:00 pm, and will be held in the Sheldon High School Library.
