Sheldon School Board To Meet

Sheldon-Schools-logoSheldon, Iowa — The Board of Education of the Sheldon Community School District will hold their regular monthly meeting for March on Wednesday, March 9th.

Among the items on the agenda is the 2015-16 School Calendar.  Superintendent Robin Spears says there are a total of five snow days that need to be made up, and will discuss with the Board how and when to make up these days.

The Board will also hear a report on the recent meeting of the District Technology Committee.  That committee is tasked with the process of developing a long-range technology/security/facilities plan for the school district.

Superintendent Robin Spears will report to the Board on the preliminary financial information for Fiscal Year 2017 during Wednesday’s meeting.  The Board will also be asked to approve a total of seven Open Enrollment Applications, four for students coming into the District and three for students leaving.  They’ll also be asked to approve a trio of resignations, along with fifteen teaching/coaching contracts, as well as a Student Services Contract for a Sheldon District student who is receiving educational services in another school district.

In other action, the Board will set the time and date for the District Budget Hearing and Certification, as well as set the time and date for a special meeting to approve the final contract for 2016/17 with the Sheldon Education Association, the union representing the District’s teachers.

Wednesday’s meeting will be called to order at 6:00 pm in the high school library.
