Melvin, Iowa — A Sibley man has died as the result of an accident on Friday near Melvin.
According to the Osceola County Sheriff’s Office, 64-year-old Joel Michael Kruger of Sibley was driving a 2001 Ford Explorer eastbound on 250th Street. They report that it appeared the Explorer dropped off the paved portion of the road onto the shoulder and Kruger lost control while trying to get the SUV back on to the road.
They report that it appears that the Explorer then overturned in the south ditch and came to rest on its wheels.
Kruger was fatally injured in the accident.
The Iowa State Patrol, Sibley Ambulance and May City Fire Department assisted at the scene. The accident remains under investigation.
