Chance Of Storms Tonight

Today will be a fairly humid and summery day. This evening, strong thunderstorms will move into the area from the west. Widespread lightning and gusty winds are expected, with the stronger storms having a chance of producing large hail, damaging winds, localized flash flooding, and an isolated tornado. After a brief break during the day Wednesday, the evening and overnight hours will bring another round of thunderstorms, some of which could again be strong. Stay weather aware during this active week!

Numerous strong to severe thunderstorms are possible today, with higher chances during the evening hours in locations near south central South Dakota. During the evening is when the threat will be greatest for large hail and isolated tornadoes with storms west of I-29. During the overnight, storms are forecast to merge together as they head eastward, increasing the damaging wind and flash flooding threat. Frequent cloud-to-ground lightning will be possible throughout the event. Be sure to have a way to receive warnings, especially since storms will be rolling through during the overnight hours.
