Teacher’s Union Presents Opening Contract Proposal

Sheldon-Schools-logoSheldon, Iowa — At a special meeting of the Sheldon Community Schools Board of Education earlier this week, the Sheldon Education Association, the union representing the District’s teachers, presented the Board with their Opening Proposal for a contract for the 2016-17 school year.

Their proposal included an increase in salary and benefits.  They proposed that the District increase it’s contribution to health insurance premiums from $6,254.04 to $6,879.44, which translates to a 10% increase.  The union also asked for increases in Base Salary, increment figure, and the Base Generator.  The total package proposal was for a 5.53% increase in salary and benefits for the 2016-17 school year.

In addition, the union proposed some changes in language from their current contract.
