Benjamin Aberson to Join Dordt Track and Cross Country

AbersonSioux Center Iowa — Benjamin Aberson, a senior at South O’Brien High School has announced his intention to attend Dordt College and join the Defender track and cross country programs.

Aberson has personal bests of 16:32 on a 5,000 meter cross country course and has run a 2:04 in the 800 meters and 4:59 in the 1,600. He was a three-time participant at the state cross country meet and placed 38th in 2015. He was a part of a 4 x 800 district champion and that team placed sixth in 2015. He claimed the War Eagle Conference title in 2014 in the 3,200 meters and helped the Wolverines to a conference track and field title in 2015.

“We are pleased to welcome Ben to Dordt College cross country and track and field. Ben is a talented young man, excelling in the classroom, in music, and in his running. He will impact Dordt College across the entire campus. In his running, Ben has had quality high school experiences in both track and cross country at South O’Brien High School. This experience, coupled with his focus and discipline, has him positioned with his best running yet to come. I am excited to work with him the next four years,” said Dordt College cross country coach Nate Wolf.

Benjamin is the son of Tim and Michelle Aberson of Paullina, Iowa. He plans to study engineering at Dordt College.

Dordt College in Sioux Center, Iowa, is a comprehensive Christian college rooted in the Reformed tradition. The Defender athletic program is a part of the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) and the Great Plains Athletic Conference (GPAC).

U.S. News & World Report, Money Magazine, Forbes.com, Washington Monthly, and Princeton Review all list Dordt on their best colleges lists. Dordt is home to approximately 1,450 students.
