Dordt Baseball Hosts Northwestern Monday Night

Dordt will host Northwestern Monday at 5:00 in games postponed from Saturday, April 13.

Northwestern is 15-19 this season and 9-9 in the league.

Sutton Derr is batting .455 this season with 15 hits and seven runs batted in.  Austin Zylstra is batting .387 and Ben De Boer bats .369. Zylstra has 41 hits and 29 runs batted in while De Boer has scored a team high 34 runs. Drew Schutt is batting .345 with a team high seven homeruns and 32 runs batted in. Josh Fakkema and Britton Yoder are also batting over .300 with averages of .314 .307 respectively.

Brady Roberts is 4-2 on the mound with a 3.80 earned run average and he has a team high 27 strikeouts through 47 innings. Alec Rickabaugh is 3-3 with 17 strikeouts in 42 innings while Mason O’Donnell has a pair of wins in relief.

Dordt is 5-20 this season and 2-16 in the GPAC.

Logan Cline leads the team with a .389 batting average and has a team high 35 hits with five doubles, three triples and 20 runs batted in. Dillon Branderhorst has 16 hits with a .2654 batting average and has 12 runs batted in with five doubles.  Cam Pfafman and Jason Holwerda each have 14 hits this season  and David Laurenti has nine runs batted in. Steve Tiersma has lifted his batting average to .353

Isaac Vander Hart has pitched 27 innings and has a 2-2 record in six starts with a 4.55 earned run average and has 21 strikeouts. Isaac Buteyn has a team high 28 strikeouts in 23 innings pitched and Logan Horne and Luke Drooger have pitched 23 and 24 innings each and Drooger has 21 strikeouts.

Northwestern took a pair of 10-5 and 6-5 decisions on Monday night, April 8. Nelson was the pitcher of record for Dordt in game one and allowed eight hits with Chris Schrieber going 2-4 at the plate for the Defenders with a grand slam.  The hosts then won the second game with a two run homerun with two outs in the seventh inning.
