Orange City, Iowa — The Dutch of MOC-Floyd Valley swept the Sheldon Orabs in basketball action Tuesday night in Orange City. The Lady Dutch topped the Orabs 58-54, and the boys won 53-33.
It was a back and forth battle in the girls contest. After one the Orabs had a 5 point lead at 14-9. At the break, MOC-Floyd Valley had a 2-point lead at 24-22. After three quarters of play, the Orabs had a slim one point lead at 41-40, but the Lady Dutch were able to outlast the Orabs in the final quarter and come away with the 58-54 win.
The Orabs had 2 players in double figures. Brooklyn Grady had a game high 20 points, while Cassidy Bart added another 10. MOC-Floyd Valley had three players in double figures. Jazlin De Haan had a game high 20 points, while Jadeyn Schutt had thirteen, and Delanie Niemyer added another ten.
MOC-Floyd Valley improves to 3-0 on the year and 3-0 in the conference. Sheldon falls to 0-4 on the year and in the Siouxland.
The MOC-Floyd Valley boys were able control the entire game down low, and led at all the breaks.
After one, the Dutch led 11-8, and at the break had a 23-17 lead. After three quarters, MOC-Floyd Valley extended their lead to 38-24, and came away with the 53-33 win.
MOC-Floyd Valley got a game high 26 points from their big man Alex Van Kalsbeek. The Orabs’ leading scorer was Tyler Lode with 9 points.
The Dutch improve to 1-1 on the year and in the conference. Sheldon falls to 0-2 on the year and in the Siouxland.
Up next for MOC-Floyd Valley is a road contest to Okoboji Friday night. On the schedule for the Orab boys is a road matchup against Rock Valley Thursday night. The Orab girls will be in action Friday night at the O-Rena against Sibley-Ocheyedan.
