MOC Floyd Valley Downs Orabs

moc_Floyd Valley logoSheldon Iowa — MOC Floyd Valley held off a second half charge by the Orabs to post a 26-16 win. At halftime the Dutch were up 6-0 on a 1 yard touchdown run by Dustin Folkema.

The Dutch scored on their first two possessions of the third quarter to build a 20-0 lead as Folkema scored on another 1 yard run and Toby Huffman went in from 5 yards out. Kyle Putman converted both extra points and the Dutch were up 20-0.

Later in the third Folkema scored from 6 yards out to put MOC Floyd Valley up 26-0.

The Orabs put a pair of scores on the board in the fourth quarter as Colby Kleinhesselink picked off a pass at the Orab 1 yard line and Sheldon went 99 yards the other way. Jaden Kleinhesselink scored on a 6 yard run and then it was Kleinhesselink to Phillip Cain for the 2-point conversion to cut the lead to 26-8 with 3:44 to play.

After the Orabs got a 4th down stop at their own 3 yard line it was Kleinhesselink to Cain again this time for a 97 yard touchdown strike. The same connection clicked on the 2-point conversion and the Orabs had made the score 26-16 with :50 seconds to play and that would be the final score.

With the win MOC Floyd Valley improves to 4-4 on the year and 2-3 in the district. The Dutch finished the regular season hosting Spirit Lake. Sheldon wraps up the year at Central Lyon George Little Rock.
