Orabs Finish Fourth At State

Des Moines, Iowa — The Sheldon Orabs ended their basketball season with a fourth place finish at the State Tournament after falling to Aplington-Parkersburg Thursday afternoon 65-52 in the Class 2A consolation matchup.

Sheldon jumped out to a quick 4-0 lead, but the Falcons responded with a 7-0 run. After a Tyler Johnson three pointer, the game was tied at seven midway through the opening quarter. After one, the game was tied 13-13. The game would remain tight early in the second quarter. Aplington-Parkersburg then went on a 8-0 run late, and took a 29-22 lead into the half. Sheldon’s Kyle Boerhave had ten first half points. The Orabs quickly trimmed the Falcons lead, and jumped in front 36-34 midway through the third quarter. Aplington-Parkersburg and Sheldon would trade baskets and heading into the final quarter, Sheldon had a 46-44 lead. The Falcons were able to hit from behind the arc in the fourth, and came away with the 65-52 victory

Sheldon got a game high nineteen points from Boerhave. Jaden Kleinhesselink added eleven points. The Falcons were led by Alec Oberhauser with seventeen points.

Aplington-Parkersburg’s season ends at 25-2. Sheldon ends their year at 22-5.
