Sheldon Defeats George-Little Rock in 6

Sheldon Orabs 2Sheldon, Iowa — The Sheldon Orabs got the win versus the George-Little Rock Mustangs in six innings of work 15-5 Monday night in Sheldon.

The game was close throughout the first 4 innings, the score was tied 5-5 heading into the bottom of the 4th. The Orabs would create some separation in the home half of the inning, scoring three with patience at the plate and aggressive base running. Sheldon would put the game away in the bottom of the sixth inning, scoring 6 runs. Cody Van Meeteren would highlight the inning with the game ending 3-run home run to left center to make the score 15-5 and give the Orabs the victory. Van Meeteren drove in four runs on the night. Earlier in the contest Ross Van Kley lifted a two-run homer to left center as part of a three run inning that put the Orabs up 4-2 after the second inning.

Dalton Van Briesen reached base three times and scored two runs for the Mustangs. Also scoring for G-LR were Nick Hengeveld, Josh Haken and Caleb De Kam.

Alex Albrecht would get the win going 2 2/3 innings, giving up just 1 hit, walking 3, and striking out 2.

Caleb De Kam took the loss for the Mustangs. De Kam went 3 1/3 innings, giving up 7 earned runs on 5 hits, and walking 7 while striking out 1.
