Veldman To Run For Dordt

Jonathon Veldman, a senior at Western Christian High School, has announced his intention to attend Dordt and join the Defender cross country and track programs.

Veldman is a three-time all-district and all-conference performer and qualified for the Iowa High School State Cross Country Championship three times where he helped the Wolfpack to a third place finish. Veldman was also a part of a Lakes Conference Championship winning team.

Veldman has personal bests of 17:04 on a 5,000 meter cross country course with best times of 4:55 in the mile and 10:40 in the two mile track races.

“I am pleased Jonathan has decided to continue his education at Dordt and run as a Defender. He fits the culture of our men’s team very well and will carry his strong work ethic and sense of responsibility into his running and academic work at Dordt. His best running is ahead of him and I look forward to working with him over the next four years,” said Dordt College cross country coach Nate Wolf.

Jonathon is the son of Jeff and Betsy Veldman of Rock Valley, Iowa. He plans to study Business Administration at Dordt.
