The Iowa High School Athletic Association released what teams are in the High School Playoffs early Saturday morning. Area automatic bids went to BHRV, Sioux Center, West Lyon, Western, West Sioux, Westwood Sloan, Remsen St. Mary’s and Newell-Fonda. Pairings for the playoffs will be sometime after 2 AM Saturday morning.
Rock Valley, Iowa — The #4 Nighthawks defeated district foe Central Lyon/George-Little Rock 41-13 at Nick Hulst Field in Rock Valley Friday night.
Sheldon Iowa — Brady Prescott ran for a school record 323 yards and scored 6 touchdowns rushing and passed for another Friday night. It all added up to a 61-6 win as the Orabs closed out the regular season at Orab Field. With the win Sheldon finishes the regular season at 7-2 and 5-2 in the District. Cherokee ends at 1-8 for the year and 1-7 in the District. Sheldon now awaits their fate for the possibility of an at large play off berth.
Northwest Iowa — The final week of the high school football season found a number of playoff spots claimed but a lot of teams still with playoff aspirations. Sheldon played host to Cherokee as one of those teams with the broadcast on KIWA AM 1550. Boyden Hull Rock Valley had secured the 2A District 1 title last Friday and finished the regular season at home against Central Lyon George Little Rock with the broadcast on KIWA FM 105.3.
