Northwest Iowa — Week eight of the Iowa High School Football season finds Sheldon on the road at Pocahontas Area. Sheldon is 5-2 on the season and 3-2 in the district following a 41-40 road loss to 7th ranked Sioux Center. Pocahontas Area fell 24-7 to Estherville Lincoln Central at Estherville last Friday.

Latest Radio Iowa Poll Out West Lyon Remains #1 in Class 1A

Des Moines Iowa — The weekly Radio Iowa High School Football Poll is out a day later than normal. A handful of games were played Monday due to Friday’s weather. West Lyon remains top ranked in Class 1A with Western Christian in the #8 spot. In Class 2A Boyden Hull Rock Valley is ranked #4 with Sioux Center in the #7 spot. Sioux Center will host a district show down between the two teams on Friday night. Both are unbeaten in district play. In Class A West Sioux is ranked second. In 8 player football Remsen St Mary’s holds down the #3 spot with Graettinger-Terril/Ruthven-Ayrshire #10.

Northwestern Up To 17th; Dordt Receives Votes

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – For the eighth-straight edition, Saint Francis (Ind.) holds the No. 1 ranking in the 2017 NAIA Football Coaches’ Top 25 Poll, the national office announced Monday. The Cougars gathered all 15 first-place votes and 340 total points en route their 11th all-time No. 1 ranking. Morningside holds the longest active streak with 131-straight Top 25 mentions. Additionally, the Mustangs have been ranked within the top 10 in 80-straight polls. Northwestern jumps to 17th, and Dordt College received 3 votes.
