It was another full Monday of baseball and softball. Our broadcast coverage featured Orab baseball at home versus Central Lyon on KIWA AM 1550 and FM 100.7.
Sheldon Iowa — A two out double to the left field corner by Kaden Huisman brought in Luke Rasmussen in the top of the seventh with what turned out to be the winning run. Central Lyon held Sheldon scoreless in the bottom of the seventh inning for the 3-2 win.
BOONE, Iowa – In an effort to increase the potential pool of registered officials and better include interested students, the Iowa High
School Athletic Association will begin allowing high school students to serve as officials for sub-varsity high school contests in 2019-20.
Current policies allow high schoolers to officiate seventh- and eighth-grade events or sub-varsity soccer matches. The change proposed
with the officials’ advisory committee and approved Monday by the IHSAA’s Board of Control aims to help an active group of young officials
gain invaluable experience and education, and allow school administrators to more easily schedule and staff sub-varsity contests.
The in the latest IGHSAU Softball Rankings, Akron-Westfield falls two spots to 8th in Class 1A, while South O’Brien jumps into the rankings at the 14 spot. Class 2A features West Lyon into the rankings at fourteen, and in Class 3A, Spirit Lake is in at fourteen as well.
In the latest Iowa High School Baseball Coaches Association poll, Kingsley Pierson falls 2 spots to 10th. In Class 2A West Lyon jumps one spot into 9th with an 11-0 record, while Hinton jumps into the rankings at the ten spot. Sergeant Bluff-Luton dropped 5 spots to ninth in Class 3A
