Join Oak Grove Park and the Prairie Woods Nature Center Saturday morning, September 6th, with the family to learn about the monarch butterfly.
This will be a two-part morning. You can join Oak Grove and the Prairie Woods Nature Center for one part, or both.
Part 1: The program will start indoors with Monarchs and their anatomy, their migration pattern and why scientists are studying them.
Part 2: Weather and conditions permitting, you will hike the park roads, gardens and trails to see if you can assist the scientists in tagging monarchs. You will learn how to tag them and Oak Grove Park will provide the nets. Part 2 will be cancelled if it is raining.
There is no cost for the event, but there are a limited number of nets for use. If you have your own net, please bring it along. This event runs from 9:30 a.m. to 11:00 a.m.
