Northwestern College Symphonic Band Concert at Village Northwest Unlimited

March 26 @ 10:00am

Village Northwest Unlimited in Sheldon will host the Northwestern College Symphonic Band for a free public concert on Thursday, March 26 at 10:00 a.m.

The band’s touring program features music of encouragement, reflection, and joy across a variety of styles and eras. Selections include Vincent Persichetti’s Pageant, Karl King’s The Trombone King, Rossano Galante’s Nostalgia, and familiar hymn settings such as William Himes’ arrangement of Amazing Grace.

The program also includes Ryan Nowlin’s Song of Solace, a reflective work written in response to personal loss, and selections from Brooke Pierson’s Concertino for Clarinet and Wind Ensemble, which moves from a lyrical ballad into a lively funk style.

The ensemble’s tour runs March 26th through the 29th, with performances in schools, senior living facilities, and churches across Iowa. The Symphonic Band is directed by Dr. Angela (Holt) Carlson, associate professor of music at Northwestern College.
