Northwestern College Theater Camp

June 24 - June 27

Northwestern College will host a summer theatre camp for high school students Monday through Thursday, June 24–27.

Open to students in grades 9 through 12, the camp will be led by the college’s award-winning theatre professors, who are experienced actors, directors, playwrights and technicians. Northwestern theatre students will also participate and serve as mentors. A camp fee of $250 covers the instruction, room and board, and access to campus facilities—including the theatres, scene and costume shops, and makeup and dressing rooms of the DeWitt Theatre Arts Center.

The campers will begin each day with theatre warmups and exercises, followed by workshops on theatre skills such as acting, stage movement and costume design. The afternoon will provide time for improvisation and scene work. The days will close with evening activities and community time in the residence halls. Participants will stay in Northwestern’s residence halls and eat in its cafeteria.

“Theatre camp offers a fantastic opportunity for high school students to learn more about theatre from Northwestern faculty and staff,” says Dr. Robert Hubbard, theatre department chair. “We’ve also found that the friendships made during the week continue through the years.”
