Northwestern College Valentine’s Day Concert

February 14 @ 7:30pm - 9:30pm

The Northwestern College Symphonic Band will present its Valentine’s Day concert, “Eat Your Heart Out, Godzilla!,” on Saturday, February 14 at 7:30 p.m. in Christ Chapel in Orange City.

Directed by Dr. Angela (Holt) Carlson, the program centers on themes of hope, perseverance, and faith amid life’s challenges, drawing inspiration from John 16:33.

The concert will feature expressive works such as Ryan Nowlin’s Song of Solace and Brian Balmages’ Love and Light, both written in response to personal loss and offering moments of peace and reassurance. The band will also present the Iowa premiere of Brooke Pierson’s Concertino for Clarinet and Wind Ensemble, featuring Meredith Sundberg, recipient of Northwestern’s Ritsema Music Scholarship.

The evening concludes with Eric Whitacre’s Godzilla Eats Las Vegas!, a dramatic and cinematic piece that blends humor with deeper themes of resilience and hope in Christ.

The concert is free and open to the public.
