Oak Grove State Park at 4051 Cherry Avenue in Hawarden is having their 100-year anniversary Saturday, June 22.
Events for the day are as follows:
From 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. discover the park in a whole new way through a self-guided trail. Pick up your passport from Prairie Woods Nature Center to get started.
From 1:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. there will be River Bottom Games. Gather family and friends and play one of the many games provided, or bring your own. Game supplies include kickball, volleyball horse shoes, bean bags and several yard games.
From 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. campers have the option to decorate their camper/campsite in the 60’s, 70’s, 80’s theme. The public is encouraged to vote for their favorite! Prizes for all campers who participate and a grand prize will also be awarded.
From 1:30 to 3:00 p.m. there will be live animals at the Prairie Woods Nature Center with a history program following at 3:00 p.m. Each presentation will last for about one hour.
At 4:00 p.m. there will be a cruise and park. Bring your classic car out to the park, or come and check out those visiting. Cars will be parked in a designated area in the River Bottom.
At 5:00 p.m. meet at the river with the Singer Family Band for 50’s and 60’s rock and country, while enjoying a mondern picnic with local food trucks.
At 8:30 p.m. the Sioux County Conservation Foundation has sponsored an outdoor movie. Bring your own snacks, drink (but no alcohol) and blanket to sit back, relax and enjoy a family friendly movie. The movie is Family Camp (Rated PG).
