Sheldon’s 18th Annual Community Clean-Up Day

May 19, 2023 @ 1:00pm-3:00pm

It’s wonderful to again be looking forward to special events and visitors to our community! As part of the ongoing effort to clean-up Sheldon and showcase our community, the Sheldon Marketing Committee would like to encourage and invite ALL Sheldon residents, service groups, clubs and organizations to participate in Sheldon’s 18th ANNUAL Community Clean-Up Day on FRIDAY, May 19 from 1pm-3pm, (Rain Date will be Friday, May 26).

The following are a list of “Adopt-a-Projects” that we hope, with YOUR help, can be completed in order to get Sheldon looking it’s very best as we head into another busy summer!

• Spring cleaning (outdoors) and landscaping help at Prairie Arts Center. (A GREAT project for a business or GROUP to adopt!!);
• Trash pick-up on the entrance / exit ramps of Hwy. 60;
• Adopt a section of the Sheldon Rec. Trails for clean-up.
• Trash pick-up at Thorman Park.
• Planting flowers in the planters at Thorman Park.
• Trash pick-up along the railroad tracks around Hills Park.

The Sheldon Marketing Committee will gladly supply refreshments for all volunteers at the end of the clean-up event! We are VERY pleased to again have Sheldon Middle School students joining in the clean-up efforts and we thank them for their enthusiasm and willingness to participate!

To make this event a success and really make a “clean sweep” of Sheldon – WE NEED YOUR HELP! Please plan to participate in Community Clean-Up Day on FRIDAY, May 19 from 1pm-3pm. If you, your business, or your club/organization would be willing to adopt a specific project, please contact Brandi Fuerstenberg at the SCDC office at 324-2813 or bfuerstenberg@cityofsheldon.com as soon as possible! A complete listing of all Adopt-A-Projects can be obtained at the SCDC office. We certainly encourage businesses and their employees to cleanup around their place of business as part of this effort as well!!

Sheldon will, again this year, host several exciting summer events. From RISEFEST, a special 3rd of July event to Celebration Days – there are many fantastic opportunities for us to put Sheldon’s best foot forward! Together, as a community, we CAN make this – along with many other exciting things happen and show the many summer visitors to Sheldon that we DO take great pride in our community!

Thank you for your consideration as we all work together to make a positive difference for our community! We look forward to seeing you on May 19 from 1pm-3pm, (rain date – Friday, May 26) at Hills Park for Community Clean-Up day!!
