Sioux County Master Gardener Plant Sale

May 11 @ 9:00am - 1:00pm

The second annual Master Gardener Plant Sale will take place Saturday, May 11, just outside of the Iowa State University Extension and Outreach Sioux County Office at 400 Central Ave. NW, Orange City.

The sale will include a variety of plants. There will be a number of tomato and pepper varieties. Among them will be the Sprayless Peron tomatoes, developed in the early 1950s in Argentina. These have the reputation of being so disease-resistant it is the only tomato not requiring spray to fight disease. The tomatoes are 3”-4” in diameter and have a complex, slightly sweet flavor. They are good as slicers and for salsas/sauces.

Several heirloom varieties will also be available. In addition to having donated plants, seeds and more for sale, Master Gardeners will be on hand to offer advice and hear your stories of plant successes.

Among the goals for the sale are to raise funds for community gardening projects, to offer a variety of plants and to find homes for all the donated plants.

The sale will be held May 11 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the drive area just outside of the Extension office (the former hospital in Orange City).

Donations are still being accepted. People can bring donations to the Extension office in the days prior to the sale or on Friday, May 10, donations will be accepted from 4 to 7 p.m. at the office.
