Tractor Open House

July 3, 2019 @ 10:00am-July 6, 2019 @ 5:00pm

Anyone that enjoys talking and seeing tractors is going to enjoy spending some time during the Fourth of July holiday at the Jake and Sharon Rens farm southwest of Orange City.

Rens has over thirty rare and unusual John Deere tractors in his collection. He has the 1946 Model A that was owned by his father, Roy on their Iowa farm. His very rare 1924 JD D was chosen as one of tractors for display at the John Deere Tractor & Engine Museum in Waterloo during their 100 Years of Tractors celebration.

Farm implements, 1930 Chevrolet 4-Door Sedan, ’54 GMC half ton pickup, ’56 Chevy half ton pickup and a Lindeman crawler also garner interesting conversations.

Various antique tools, corn shellers, signs and agriculture related items in his displays will bring back memories or educate on the way things got done on the farm in years past. Jake Rens is knowledgeable and can explain their uses and purposes.

While the men, young and old, are spinning tales, Sharon, Jake’s wife, will have her spinning wheel set up in the garage as she spins a fiber into yarn. Or she might be knitting, so take a project along if the tractor talk gets a bit too much and sit a spell.

Stop by for a visit, cup of coffee and a cookie. There will be plenty of memories shared and maybe even a bit of learning.

When: July 3-6  (Wednesday- Saturday)   10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Where: Jake and Sharon Rens Farm

3452 510th Street
