Correctionville, Iowa — A Cherokee area teen has died in an accident near Correctionville on Wednesday, March 22, 2023.
The Woodbury County Sheriff’s Office reports that at about 6:30 p.m., a 16-year-old boy was driving southbound on Highway 31, about a mile and a half northeast of Correctionville. They tell us that a 17-year-old was also southbound on 31.
The report says that some sort of collision caused both vehicles to enter the ditch. The vehicle driven by the 17-year-old rolled multiple times, and he was ejected.
An ambulance took the 16-year-old to a hospital. The 17-year-old died from his injuries.
The accident is currently under investigation.
We are told both drivers were students at Cherokee High School.
