Alton “Garage Fire” Call Reveals Only Minor Damage

Alton, Iowa — The Alton Fire Department was called out recently to a garage fire call in Alton.

According to Alton Fire Chief Quintin Van Es, the Alton Fire Department was called to the report of a garage fire at 308 11th Street in Alton.

The chief says the fire department saw smoke coming from the garage door as they approached the scene. He says they took a line inside, but didn’t find much visible flame. What they did find is a smoldering pile of what he called “decor items.”

Van Es says no injuries were reported, and there was no structural damage.

The Orange City Fire Department also responds to Alton calls, (and vice versa), so Orange City firefighters were on the scene as well.

He says the cause of the fire is undetermined.

He tells us the firefighters who responded were on the scene for between 30 and 35 minutes.
