Orange City, Iowa — A rear-end collision sent an Alton teen to the hospital on Friday, April 19, 2024.
Shortly after 10:10 p.m., the Sioux County Sheriff’s Office reports that 20-year-old Guillermo Gonzalez of Fremont, Nebraska, was driving a 2018 Toyota Camry northbound on Jackson Avenue, one mile south of Orange City. They say 17-year-old Angelina Nelson of Alton was driving a 2010 Chevrolet Impala northbound on Jackson Avenue behind Gonzalez.
The report says Gonzalez slowed to turn left onto 470th Street and Nelson struck the rear of Gonzalez’s vehicle.
The Orange City Ambulance took Nelson to Orange City Area Health.
Damage to the Gonzalez Toyota was estimated at $10,000. The Nelson Chevrolet sustained approximately $5,000 in damage.
Gonzalez was cited on a charge of operating a motor vehicle without a valid driver’s license. Nelson was cited on a charge of following too closely.
The sheriff’s office says the Orange City Police Department and the Orange City Ambulance Squad assisted them with the response to the accident.
