Sioux Center, Iowa — A Sioux Center man was taken to the hospital after an accident in Sioux Center on Wednesday, April 27, 2022.
The Sioux Center Police Department reports that at about 8:35 a.m., 29-year-old Jaclyn Bacon of Sioux Center was driving a 2013 Ford SUV southbound on Third Avenue Northeast in Sioux Center. They tell us that 70-year-old Jan Van Vliet of Sioux Center was westbound on Fifth Street Northeast in a 1998 Ford pickup.
The report says that both vehicles were approaching the uncontrolled intersection at roughly the same time. The officer says neither driver saw the other vehicle approach the intersection, and the vehicles collided in the middle of the intersection.
The Sioux Center Ambulance took Van Vliet to Sioux Center Health Hospital.
Both vehicles were totaled in the accident, with Bacon’s Ford SUV sustaining $12,000 in damages, and Van Vliet’s Ford pickup sustaining $7,000 in damages.
Van Vliet was charged with Failure to Yield to a Vehicle on the Right.
