Boyden, Iowa — The Boyden Fire Department was called out for a fire on Thursday, November 9, 2023.
According to Boyden Fire Chief Chris Starkenburg, at about 2:30 p.m., the Boyden Fire Department was called to the report of a field fire near 350th Street and Larch Avenue, three miles south and three east of Boyden or three west and three south of Sheldon.
The chief says the fire department saw a small section of the cornstalk field on fire as they approached the scene. He says a farmer with a disk helped them fight the fire.
Starkenburg says no injuries were reported. He says the cause of the fire is undetermined. Chief Starkenburg reports that there was minimal damage. He says the firefighters who responded were on the scene for about 20 minutes.
