Boyden Woman Taken To Hospital After Sioux Center Area Crash

Sioux Center, Iowa — A Boyden woman was taken to a hospital after a crash on Thursday, April 2, 2026, near Sioux Center.

The Sioux County Sheriff’s Office says that at about 11:15 a.m., 36-year-old Katy Van Veldhuizen of Boyden was driving a 2016 Jeep Renegade westbound on 370th Street, a mile north of Sioux Center. It says she was stopped at a stop sign. They report that 20-year-old Kody Eisma of Hawarden was driving a 2025 Peterbilt semi-truck pulling a Wilson trailer northbound on Highway 75.

The report says Van Veldhuizen entered the intersection while attempting to make a left turn onto Highway 75, and was struck by the northbound semi driven by Eisma.

Sioux Center Ambulance EMTs took Van Veldhuizen to Sioux Center Health.

The Jeep sustained approximately $10,000 in damage. The Peterbilt sustained approximately $25,000 in damage.

Van Veldhuizen was cited on a charge of Failure to Yield the Right of Way at a Stop Sign.

The Sheriff’s Office says the Sioux Center Police Department, Sioux Center Fire Department, and Sioux Center Ambulance Squad assisted them with the response to the accident.
