Camper Destroyed In Hartley Fire

Hartley, Iowa — A camper was destroyed in a fire on Saturday, May 24, 2025, in Hartley.

According to Hartley Fire Chief Brad Meendering, at about 12:30 a.m., the Hartley Fire Department was called to the report of a camper on fire in the 200 block of Second Avenue West in Hartley.

The chief says the fire department saw a fully-engulfed RV, with the side of a garage on fire as well. He says they’re lucky there was no wind.

Meendering says no injuries were reported.

He says the cause of the fire is undetermined.

Chief Meendering reports that the camper was totaled. The garage roof and side were also burned. Windows were melted in a nearby SUV, so Meendering says that was probably totaled as well.

He says the firefighters who responded were on the scene for about an hour.
