Car Chase That Started In Worthington Ends Near Sibley

Sibley, Iowa — A car chase that began in Worthington Thursday morning ended in a foot pursuit after the driver crashed his car into a creek southwest of Sibley.

According to a report from the Osceola County Sheriff’s Office, Worthington Police attempted to stop a vehicle for a traffic violation. The vehicle refused to stop and fled southbound into Osceola County. Authorities say that while in Osceola County, the vehicle eventually entered Sibley, where it reportedly drove through multiple back yards and caused minor property damage at multiple residences in an attempt to elude officers.

According to Osceola County authorities, the vehicle eventually crashed into Otter Creek southwest of Sibley, where the driver abandoned the vehicle and fled on foot, before being chased down by an Osceola County Deputy.

Authorities identify the driver as 29-year-old Isaac Dane Plentyhorse of Sioux Falls. Deputies say they charged Plentyhorse with allegedly eluding, an aggravated misdemeanor, reckless driving and interference with official acts, both simple misdemeanors, failure to maintain control, and multiple stop sign and other traffic violations.

The Osceola County Sheriff’s Office was assisted by officers from the Worthington Police Department, the Nobles County Sheriff’s Office, the Lyon County Sheriff’s Office and the Sioux County Sheriff’s Office.
