Car Destroyed In Fiery Accident Due To Ice Sunday Morning

Rock Rapids, Iowa — A passenger vehicle was destroyed in a fiery accident early on Sunday morning south of Rock Rapids.

According to the Lyon County Sheriff’s Office, at about 6:30 a.m. on Sunday morning, emergency and fire personnel were called to a one-vehicle accident at the intersection of A-34 (210th St) and Highway 75 — commonly known as the Lakewood Corner, about five miles south of Rock Rapids.

Authorities say 24-year-old Eri Wilder Cellular Argueta of Worthington was driving a 2014 Toyota Rav4 owned by Maria Gissela Claros Ramos.  They tell us that due to the icy road conditions the Rav4 went through the T intersection, entered the west ditch, and started on fire.

The driver and only occupant, was able to exit the vehicle without any injuries, but the Rav4 became fully engulfed in flames and was a total loss.

Responding to the accident and fire were the Doon Fire Department, Doon Rescue Squad, Lyon County Ambulance Squad, and the Lyon County Sheriff’s Office.
