Car Strikes Scooter’s Coffee In Rock Valley

Rock Valley, Iowa– A Rock Valley pair were taken to the hospital after their vehicle struck the Scooter’s Coffee Shop in Rock Valley on Tuesday, September 24, 2024.

The Rock Valley Police Department reports that at about 4:35 p.m., 81-year-old Wayne Groeneweg of Rock Valley was driving a 2024 Subaru Outback southbound on Main Street in Rock Valley.

The report says that Groeneweg had a medical episode and lost consciousness while driving. The police report says his passenger, 80-year-old Judy Groeneweg attempted to control the vehicle by grabbing the steering wheel. It says she was unable to control the vehicle, and it left the roadway and struck the northwest corner of Scooter’s Coffee.

The Rock Valley Ambulance took both Groenewegs to Hegg Health Center Hospital by Rock Valley Ambulance.

Groeneweg’s Subaru Outback was reportedly totaled out with an estimated $20,000 in damages. Scooters received comparatively little damage. It was estimated at about $6000.
