Car Totaled In Car Fire East Of Sandy Hollow

Orange City, Iowa — A car was destroyed in a fire on Friday, December 19, 2025, near Orange City.

According to Orange City Fire Chief Dan Roghair, at about 3:20 p.m., the Orange City Fire Department was called to the report of a car fire at B40 and Ironwood Avenue, four miles north of Orange City, or about two miles east of Sandy Hollow.

When they got there, the chief says the fire department saw the car on fire. He says they used water and foam to fight the fire.

Roghair says no injuries were reported.

He says the origin of the fire was determined to be in the engine compartment, but no cause other than that could be determined.

Chief Roghair reports that the car was totaled in the blaze.

He says the firefighters who responded were on the scene for about half an hour.
