Contents Of Shed By Orange City Bomgaars Destroyed In Thursday Night Fire

Orange City, Iowa — A shed and its contents on the Bomgaars property were damaged in a fire on Thursday, April 2, 2026, in Orange City.

According to Orange City Fire Chief Dan Roghair, at about 7:10 p.m., the Orange City Fire Department was called to the report of a shed on fire by the Bomgaars store at 1309 Albany Place Southeast in Orange City.

When they got there, the chief says the fire department saw heavy smoke coming from the shed. He says they evacuated the store to keep customers and employees safe.

Roghair says no injuries were reported. The Alton Fire Department provided automatic mutual aid.

He says the cause of the fire is under investigation.

Chief Roghair reports that the shed might be salvageable, but the contents are probably totaled.

He says the firefighters who responded were on the scene for about half an hour.
