Sioux Center, Iowa — Two people were taken to the hospital, with one of them going to jail, following a one-car crash near Sioux Center Sunday night.
According to Sioux County authorities, the mishap occurred around 10:50 Sunday night, when a 2014 Ford Mustang, driven by 19-year-old Cole Haverhals of Hawarden, was westbound on 390th Street, two miles west of Sioux Center.
Deputies say Haverhals lost control of the car, entered the south ditch and rolled.
According to authorities, Haverhals and a passenger were both transported by the Sioux Center Ambulance to Sioux Center Health for treatment of their injuries.
The Ford sustained approximately $20,000 in damage.
Upon further investigation, deputies say they suspected that Haverhals was under the influence of alcohol.
After his release from medical care, Haverhals was transported to the Sioux County Jail where he was charged with operating a motor vehicle while intoxicated and failure to maintain control of a motor vehicle, according to authorities.
The sheriff’s office was assisted by the Sioux Center Police Department, Sioux Center Ambulance and Sioux Center Fire Department.
