Paullina, Iowa — What started as a domestic abuse complaint against a Paullina man ended with his arrest on narcotics, weapons and domestic assault charges.
Court records indicate that deputies made contact with 57-year-old David Stanley about 3:20 Tuesday afternoon. Deputies say Stanley was standing in the doorway of a Paullina residence when deputies made contact. He reportedly told officers he’d rather talk with them across the street at a convenience store. Deputies say they had been informed that Stanley was in possession of methamphetamine, and when they went back across the street to see if he had dropped or hidden any controlled substances, deputies reportedly discovered two suspected meth pipes and two baggies of suspected meth between the home’s screen door and entry door, where Stanley had been standing when deputies first approached. As a result, Stanley was charged with Possession of a Controlled Substance, 3rd or Subsequent Offense, which is a Class D Felony.
In addition, Stanley faces a misdemeanor charge of Carrying Weapons for a pair of knives with blades more than five inches in length. Deputies say that Stanley does not have a Permit to Carry Weapons, which is required o carry knives that size.
Stanley was also charged with misdemeanor Domestic Assault. He was taken to the O’Brien County Jail, before being released Wednesday morning, according to online O’Brien County Jail records.
