Larchwood, Iowa — A Doon woman has been arrested on felony child endangerment and OWI charges after a vehicle crash west of Larchwood.
The Lyon County Sheriff’s Office has filed criminal complaints accusing 36-year-old Kristina Espinoza of Doon of operating a vehicle while intoxicated. The complaints state she was involved in a crash on October 31st that resulted in injuries to children who were passengers in her vehicle. She was arrested on a warrant last week.
In his statement, the deputy says Espinoza admitted to drinking alcohol and smoking marijuana. He says she showed clues of intoxication and blew over the limit when given a preliminary breath test.
Espinoza was charged with two counts of child endangerment resulting in bodily injury, a class D felony. If convicted, she could face up to five years in prison on each count. She also faces a misdemeanor count of operating while intoxicated.
No court dates have yet been set in the case.
Espinoza was booked into the Lyon County Jail in Rock Rapids and was released the same day after posting a $11,000 bond.
